To celebrate the 10th Annual Calgary International Film Fest, the team at GetDown.ca have decided to publish a series of articles showcasing the films you need to see. We’ll be posting the top four films from each of our writers throughout the week so check back each day. Next up is Wil Knoll.

Dead Snow – Learn How to Kill Nazis and/or Zombies For Fun and Survival.

NAZI ZOMBIES! 475 quarts of blood! If the film’s synopsis says feelgood-nazi-zombie-splattter-comedy, well, I don’t have much of a choice. It’s like if all those video game Nazis I killed in Wolfenstine 3D were buried in the Rockies. The filmmakers obviously know their audience. | More Information

Art & Copy – Because I have way too many designer friends.

Certain design schools mark periods in my life, or how brands of clothing will always remind me of my ex’s. The Puma logo in particular will always fill me with disappointment and regret (ah young love…). There are some truly remarkable stories surrounding the add campaigns that surround our lives. | More Information

The Mirror – All last ditch efforts should be so grand.

Think about it for a bit. A leader has a giant mirror assembled on the top of a freaking mountain to capture the sun and channel it into the town? That’s the stuff of Myths people. And then the King climbed the Mountain and built a magical tower that stole the suns light! | More Information

Revanche – My acting buddy said it was important.

That’s basically it. A buddy I’ve acted with was all Dude, Revanche is a study in how great movies are created. Direction, Performance, and writing all come together. You could see that Japanese one about Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl … but dude, see this for the craft. | More Information
