Taste of Calgary 2010

by Leah Wong · 1 comment

Taste of Calgary is a food lover’s dream come true.  From August 12-15 the Eau Claire Festival Plaza will be filled with food tents from restaurants all around the city.  Visitors can taste sample-sized food from their menus using tickets purchased at the event.  Tickets are 75 cents each; number of tickets required for items varies.  The festival runs from 11am-9pm.

This year is the 14th Taste of Calgary.  There will be 30 restaurants occupying 46 booths, as well as 20 alcoholic beverages available.  In addition to the large variety of food, there will be performances on the main stage.  There is no admission to the event.

The most expensive menu item at Taste of Calgary is 6 tickets, which is really only $4.50, making this festival an inexpensive way to scope out restaurants you wish to try in the future.

The plaza gets extremely busy on the weekend, so be prepared to stand in line.  If you’re in and around downtown on Thursday or Friday, you can always purchase your tickets ahead of time to avoid the ticket-booth lineup.  Just remember to come back and redeem your tickets, as they are not transferable to next year’s festival.
