The man that other major cities are “nenvious” of, His Worship Mayor Nenshi, gives us the goods on his favourite tasty treats.

Who’s your favourite downtown food cart vendor?

I think it’s really important to have a vibrant food cart industry and culture in Calgary. Unfortunately, picking a favourite vendor is like picking a favourite child: I just can’t do it. I’m a fan of the long-standing and familiar carts such as the Old Munich German Sausage House and Yum Yum Donair. But, I’m really excited to see the newest carts such as Wannawafel and Burger Planet.

What makes it your favourite?

I picked these as my favourites because of the variety. I’m not one to go to the same cart every day—I have to change it up!

What do you normally order?

I’m always trying something different, but on my next free lunch hour (!) I think I’ll get the Taco Burger at Burger Planet.

If you could pick any type of food you’d like to see on the street that isn’t currently there what would it be?

A taco and burrito cart would be a nice culinary addition.

Last week we spoke to Connie DeSousa about her favourite, what’s your favourite downtown street food?
