Celebrate May Long Weekend like Royalty

by Shannon McNeney · 17 comments

If you’re not heading out of town for the May long weekend, the Fairmont Palliser is hosting a “RoyalTea Baby Shower” on Sunday, May 19th.

It’s only appropriate that we toast Victoria Day with a spot of tea. Wouldn’t you say?

As if tea and scones with clotted cream aren’t enough to draw anyone out of their Hobbit hole on a Sunday, they have thrown in a glass of Moet bubbly, a tiered tower of mini-sandwiches, pastries, and an incredible line up of the entertainment fit for a Royal.

International violinist, Sophie Serafino, will perform something special by Mozart. I saw Ms. Serafino perform live recently, and she is as stunningly talented as she is beautiful.

There will also be an exclusive performance by The School of Alberta Ballet.

The best part, in my opinion, is that a Hudson’s Bay baby gift registry has been created where guests are encouraged to purchase an essential baby item to donate to Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.  Guests who do so, will be entered to win a fabulous prize.

Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home and support for sick children and their families.

It wouldn’t be an English tea party without a fabulous outfit, and of course a fascinator!  With this in mind, all ticket holders will receive 15% off their purchase at Chapel Hats.

Tickets to the shower would make for an excellent Mother’s Day gift for many moms and grandmas, if you’re still looking for ideas.  They can be purchased online and in advance only here.

The Duchess of Cambridge is due in mid-July, so the burning question for the day will likely be “boy or girl?”  What do you think?  Enter your answer in the comment section below for a chance to win a $75.00 gift card for The Rimrock Restaurant at the Palliser.  The winner will be randomly selected on Monday, May 13th.  Good luck!
