The 9th Annual Rock & Roll Rodeo

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

The 9th Annual Rock and Roll Rodeo is The Palomino Smokehouse’s answer to some of the less savoury Stampede parties you may see or hear about in town. Lest you think we’re a bunch of stuffed shirt teetotalers, I’ll cut to the chase: The Rock and Roll Rodeo is an all-day and all-night affair with over 25 bands (and a burlesque troupe!) coming together so we can raise money for that most worthy of causes, the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Since 2004 The Palomino has proudly presented the Rock and Roll Rodeo as our end-of-Stampede masterpiece. With such a wide selection of bands from across Calgary, and even Canada’s, musical landscape, you have to keep in mind that every string, stick, pedal and lyric are all be donating by each musician for free. That’s a lot of time, talent and selflessness happening from noon to 2am.

A flat donation of $10 per person (as long as they are 18+) gets you into the Rodeo for the day, with the top floor of The Palomino representing roots and the evening programming in the basement being geared to rock and roll. Whether you want to two step shoulder to shoulder while the sun’s up or clank pints with characters, we’ve got you covered.

We thank you in advance for supporting the cause with your time, ears and funds. Remember, at the end of our city’s most world-famous 10 days, the Rock and Roll Rodeo brings together the most important C’s of July: Community, Calgary Stampede, and Children.

Thank you.
