New Year’s Eve Downtown 2016

Now that Christmas has passed and your bellies are full of Christmas baking, it’s time to start thinking about your plans for New Year’s Eve! There are a variety of activities happening downtown during NYE this year, and we’ve done you the favour of rounding them all up into one convenient spot!

City of Calgary’s NYE at Olympic Plaza 

To commemorate the start of Canada’s 150th birthday, The City of Calgary is throwing a huge NYE bash at Olympic Plaza! Young families won’t want to miss the glow-in-the-dark dance party at the Municipal Building complete with crafts, bouncy castle, stilt walkers, magician and a kids’ countdown at 9pm. Olympic Plaza will be illuminated and animated with family skating, live ice carvings, fire spinning, an ice slide, and creative light-based art installations. Musical entertainment will be provided by top Calgary DJs, Cowtown Opera on the rooftop and live performances from Canadian rock band 54.40 and Calgary’s own Eve Hell and the Razors. You can also get your photo taken at the Canada 150 sculpture and see your image on the big screen during the stage show.

A Luminous New Year’s Eve at Knox United Church

Sub Rosa & The Guild New Year’s Eve

Both The Guild and Sub Rosa have some fun choices for New Years if you’re hoping to avoid the cold!
