Celebrate your love downtown!

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than an evening or afternoon downtown? From classy cocktails with friends to handmade art for your loved ones, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Where better to dwell on the affairs of the heart in the dead of winter than a cozy French bistro! And when we say affairs, we mean the art and science of this miraculous organ. Under the guidance of textile artist Adele Schatschneider, you’ll make your own felted anatomical heart model. You’ll be in the company of Dr. Sarah Hewitt, a physiology professor who’ll help you understand how it works and why sometimes it doesn’t. You’ll be happily learning a wool sculpture craft while hearing famous heart-stopping stories and the science behind them. At the end of it all, you’ll have the most precious gift to give, a handmade small felted heart.

And then there’s the art from the kitchen and bar, where light snacks and French onion soup will keep you warm and energized through a cold midwinter afternoon. The exquisite snacks will be created for you by Avec Bistro’s France-trained executive chef Daniel Pizzaro.

Make sure to register early here.
