Yelp is a website that connects locals to great Calgary businesses and events. Based on the reviews of our users, we’re bringing you a few Yelp approved picks for Big Taste Calgary that are easy on the palate–and on your wallet.

Wild Rose Brewery and Taproom

You’ll find more than a group of party pigs at the Wildrose Brewery. Voted “Best Beer in Calgary” three years in a row, this local craft brewery boasts a 5 star rating.

“I have been loving them for years. Special fondness for the Wraspberry, Velvet Fog & recently the Cherry Porter. Their brewery location serves some fantastic food. The chips & three dips is a steal of a deal.”
-Erin S

Lunch menu: 13 oz Wild Rose Beer or locally-made soda, your choice of chili, mac’n’cheese, or pulled pork sliders and an Alberta Crude Oatmeal Stout Chocolate Brownie ($15)

Zen 8

When it’s time to rawk some rolls, get your maki on for the creative sushi at Zen 8. With “fish flown in from the Maritimes and Tokyo on a daily basis,” this is some of the freshest sushi in town.

“Their Zen features are extremely artistic. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Like most sushi places the chefs say hi and bye, and the manager usually wanders by your table at least once during your visit.”
- Nyssa R

Dinner menu: Appetizer: Shrimp Dumpling, Orange Bay Scallops, Super Kara Tempura Prawn. Entrée: Red Tuna Sushi, Ebi Sushi, Sockeye Sushi, Scallop Sushi, Hamachi Sashimi .Atlantic Salmon Sashimi, Kamikaze Roll, Referee Stop Roll, Sexy Tokyo Roll ($35)

Bonterra Trattoria

Mamma mia! It’s like a little piece of Italy in the middle of the prairies. By using only the freshest ingredients, the chefs at Bonterra’s “will create Italian dishes so authentic, you’ll think you were in Italy.”

“This is the best restaurant I’ve come across in Calgary, pure and simple. We asked our waiter to take care of picking things for us. He took personal pride in making sure that every aspect of our meal was phenomenal, including convincing the chefs to make something that wasn’t even on the menu for us.
- Patrick P

Lunch menu: Insalata Cato, Linguine Carbonara, Dolci Veloci ($15)
Dinner menu: Gamberi, Cinghiale, and Zeppollini ($35)

FARM

The name says it all at Farm. From farm to fork, ingredients are sourced locally and prepared on-site in their open-concept kitchen.

“I am absolutely, positively, happily in love with Farm. The servers are friendly and quick and never leave you with an empty glass. But the food…oh my gosh, the food. Everything was cooked perfectly in their open kitchen. I love open kitchens, everything looked great.”

- Emma G

Lunch #1: Muse salad, FARM burger, Warm Cookies ($15)
Lunch #2: FARM salad, FARM burger with seasonal soup, Parfait in a jar ($25)
