Happy Birthday CUFF – Calgary Underground Film Festival 2013

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

Spring is a time when flowers emerge from the ground, while Calgary’s movie-lovers head in the opposite direction.

Yes, while other theatres are playing the latest million-dollar blockbuster movies, Calgarians are treated to a taste of the underground from the Calgary Underground Film Festival. For an entire week, April 15th to 21st, the Globe Cinema will be taken over by giant arachnids, punk bands, drag-queens and drug dealers (in the form of great independent films).

The team at CUFF have been working hard since last year and have put together quite a festival. One world premiere film, as well as a number of Canadian, and Alberta premieres.

Seeing a film during the Calgary Underground Film Festival is an experience like no other! Many of these films do not get a wide release, meaning this could be your only chance to catch the film on the big-screen. Additionally, count on guests at many of the films, including cast, directors and more.

So if you’re a movie buff, cinephile or just someone who’s bored of high-budget blockbusters, you’ll want to check out the Calgary Underground Film Festival.
