Shaw Invites Golf Enthusiasts to Recreate History with Fred Couples

Fred Couples is coming back to Calgary and is determined to defend his title as he competes in the 2015 Shaw Charity Classic. This year, following Couples’ 2014 winning final round that included an amazing chip-in eagle on the 18th hole, Calgary golf fans will be invited to compete in a Chip ‘n’ Putt challenge on Stephen Avenue for the chance to meet Couples and attend the Charity Classic in style. 

Starting on July 29, 2015, golf buffs of all ages and levels will have the chance to participate in a four-hole showdown that includes three holes of putting and one chipping contest. The putting course will be located on Stephen Avenue  (239-8th Avenue SW just outside ATB) on a specifically designed plot in the heart of Downtown Calgary.

Participants will kick-off the contest by playing a four-hole challenge to earn the daily top score. The top scorer of each day will then advance to the semi-finals on August 5, 2022 and on Thursday, August 6, 2015, the contest will conclude at 8:30 a.m. as the top-two finalists go head-to-head in a chipping contest that will be observed by Fred Couples himself!

Contest Dates and Times:

Qualification Rounds: July 29th to August 5th from 8am to 6pm

Semi-Finals: August 5th from 5 to 7pm

Finals will be held August 6th at Canyon Meadows golf & country club.

Prizes

The eight semi-finalists will be awarded a prize pack including signed memorabilia and the choice of a TaylorMade putter or wedge. The champion will win Sky Box passes on the 18th hole for the Shaw Charity Classic weekend, and a honourary observer spot with Fred Couples.

The Champions Tour professionals will play for a purse of $2.35 million, an increase of $100,000, when they return to Calgary’s Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club from August 5-9.
