The month of love is here and Valentine’s/Galentine’s/Palentine’s Day is just around the corner. Time to pick up some cute and thoughtful gifts for your love, your BFF or yourself. I’ve gone the traditional route this year with great gift ideas in the following categories: Spa Products, Desserts, Fresh Flowers, Thoughtful Cards, Wine + Bubbly and of course, Lingerie. I have rounded up six fabulous shops in downtown Calgary that will be sure to put a smile on your beau’s face.
Spa Products: Pop into the locally-made Rocky Mountain Soap Co. to pull together a gift basket of goodies for that someone special. Pick up some of their lovely Massage Butter and Massage Oil (in scents like Lavender and Ylang Ylang!) for the perfect way to pamper them. Pair those up with a few other gifts like the Love Your Feet care kit, some of their favourite magazines and some tasty treats.
Desserts: Everyone loves to indulge in a little treat on Valentine’s Day but cinnamon hearts and the old school chocolate boxes are looking a little tired these days. Freshen up your dessert and candy game by stopping into Monplaisir Delicacies for some decadent French macarons. Available in flavours like Strawberry Rhubarb, Red Velvet and Earl Grey, your thoughtful and tasty gift will be a hit.
Flowers: Even though many people will say that bouquets are cliche for our modern world, I believe that there is nothing as classic as fresh flowers. They instantly brighten up your home or office, smell great and add the much-needed touch of greenery during these cold winter months. Orange Tree Floral Designs, located in the CORE, is a gorgeous floral shop filled with bold blossoms that will thrill your par amour.
Greeting Cards: Papyrus is one of my absolute favourite shops to find thoughtful gifts and well-designed greeting cards. They have been in the business of stationary for decades so I always know that I will find something unique here. Papyrus has a ton of adorable options for him, her and the kids. I instantly fell in love with the Soulmatey Card - there are many others just as cute.
Wine + Bubbly: If you have never been to The Cellar Wine Store on Stephen Avenue you will definitely want to check out this gorgeous wine destination that is literally underground under the historic Alberta Hotel. You can’t go wrong with their featured bubbly, Moet Brut Imperial.
Lingerie: Lastly, if you are looking for something a little risque for your Valentine’s Day date, look no further than Agent Provacteur‘s boutique inside Holt Renfrew. Agent Provacteur is known for their edgy vintage-inspired lingerie designs and you’ll be sure to find something saucy for the big day.
