Eau Claire invites you to start your Christmas shopping early at the Calgary Night Market – the only night market happening in downtown Calgary during fall/winter months. Come out and enjoy late night shopping in the heart of downtown.

Shop local vendors and enjoy local music and live entertainment during this late night event for all ages.

This is a free event and will take place at the main floor of Eau Claire market. The market runs from 5pm – 11pm. Make sure to RSVP on their event page.

The Monkey Trial is based on the transcription of the astonishing “The Scopes Monkey Trial.” In 1925, American John Scopes, a substitute high school biology teacher, was accused of violating Tennessee’s Butler Act, which made it against the law to teach evolution in any state-funded school. The case became a mesmerizing clash between fundamentalism and modernism, religion and science, dogma and intellectual freedom; themes that are still relevant in North American society.

Tickets can be bought here.

FAT JACK FALSTAFF’S LAST HOUR – until November 5th, 2016

Shakespeare’s most delightful and deplorable character, Sir John Falstaff, has lived large and loud. Arriving at his “final scene”, he confronts disappointment, confusion, and a world which is anxious to leave him behind.

His long-suffering landlady and her soldier husband must find a way to usher Falstaff out Death’s door, which is several sizes too small for him.

Internationally renowned Calgary playwright John Murrell’s first new play in four years is ushered into life by the irrepressible One Yellow Rabbit ensemble.

Showtimes vary, see website for details and to purchase tickets.

Singer, songwriter Rokia Traoré dismisses the notion of genre, blending the sounds of her native Mali with blues, rock, jazz, and folk for a sound transcends borders. One of the most inventive and politically-charged artists from Africa today, Traoré’s powerful voice ranges from up-tempo pop to haunting and melancholy ballads. Traoré is remarkable not just for the range of her powerful and emotional voice, but also for her stunning live performances that range from up-tempo guitar-led pop to haunting and melancholy ballads. Earlier this year, Traoré was appointed by the UN as a Regional Goodwill Ambassador to spread awareness and generate support for West and Central Africa.

More information can be found on the Arts Commons website.
