WERK - Calgary’s newest LGBTQ+ and friends pop-up party

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

WERK brings an L.A. vibe to Calgary for its first pop-up party event at Palace Theatre on December 9, 2017.

Tickets are now on sale for WERK, Calgary’s newest LGBT+ and friends dance party. The event promises to be a high-energy night of fun featuring some of the best drag performances Calgary has ever seen. And as the temperature outside drops, things will be heating up inside with the event’s L.A.-comesto-Calgary theme.

“I decided to create WERK because I wanted more great LGTBQ+ party options in Calgary,” says Dane Walker, the event organizer. “Who doesn’t dream of partying in L.A. in the dead of winter? So, I thought, ‘Why not bring L.A. to Calgary with some of that city’s hottest up-and-coming talent.”

Dancing and performances begin at 9:00 p.m. with music by DJ Roofeo and DJ Erwin, who will be battling it out on the decks playing a combo of current top 40 hits and all-time classics and gay anthems. Calgary’s own legendary Tara Extravaganza of Carly’s Angels will open the show, followed by performances by Vancouver’s fiercest bad girl Berlin Stiller and reigning empress, Jane Smoker.

Then the L.A. Takeover begins. Morgan McMichaels of  Rupaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, breakout diva and resident host at The Abbey Nightclub, Mayhem Miller, and Internet socialite and all-around controversy queen, BibleGirl, will all be performing between sets by Ryan Skyy, internationally renowned producer and resident DJ at The Abbey who has four number-one Billboard dance remixes to his credit, including the monster-hit remix of Adele’s “Hello.”

An enhanced experience will be provided at the Skyy Vodka VIP Balcony, where guests will get a chance to meet all three stars and participate in the VIP photo booth. Skyy Vodka will be taking over the balcony with a pop-up Skyy Vodka Bar with signature cocktails and old-school shooter guys.

Tickets are available online at www.myshowpass.com/la-takeover-2 and at Hush Lingerie and More (920 16th Avenue NW, 587-354-4874)
