Street Style Huntress: Street Gentlemen

by Aldona Barutowicz · 0 comments

I’m so thrilled to be bringing back some serious menswear style in this week’s post! When I met Sunjeev Prasad at a recent event and found out that he’s a menswear stylist – on top of looking amazing himself – I instantly knew that a feature of his personal style was in order.

He has some wonderful style advice and some shopping destinations you should also consider, although his personal style is inspiration enough.

Make sure you check out his work –

Until next time, xo AldonaB (Street Style Huntress). Make sure you follow all of my style and fashion adventures on Instagram @aldonabcreative

How would you describe your personal style?

Well, the name of my image consulting company (Street Gentlemen) is actually an extension of my personal style. It’s a mix of streetwear (inspired by my love for rap music and culture) and formalwear (inspired by love for looking and feeling great).

What are some of your influences when it comes to fashion?

There are a few stars in the NBA who are always pushing the envelope. Kyle Kuzma and Russell Westbrook are great examples of men who understand who they are and aren’t concerned with what people will think of them when taking risks.

When it comes to suiting up there are a few accounts on Instagram like Aleks Musika, Davidson Frere, and Shaun Birley who inspire me to look my best.

What are some of your favourite stores and shopping destinations in Downtown Calgary?

The selection at Fluevog’s great, it’s especially cool that they’re a Canadian company. Simons is another great option. Their wide range of options makes it pretty easy to find what you’re looking for.

What are some of your favourite Downtown YYC spots?

Phil & Sebastian’s on Stephen Ave is always great. I love what they’ve done with the decor at this location, it’s not like any of the others. I’ve also been meaning to check out the Wednesday Room, seems like a cool spot.

What are some of your favourite trends right now?

Great question. Honestly I’ve been more focused on timeless style for the last couple of years and have paid less attention to trends. One trend I have noticed recently is monochromatic looks. What I love about this is that it requires very little effort to put together, which makes your life so much easier.

What fashion advice would you give to others?

It begins with understanding yourself and dressing accordingly. Style is an extension of your personality and should always be treated that way. Consider your lifestyle and the message you intend to send based on how you present yourself.

Tell us more about the projects and work that you’re involved with.

My main focus is Street Gentlemen which takes up the majority of my time. It keeps me pretty busy so there isn’t much room to take on other projects outside of this for the time being.

What are some of your future aspirations?

To be the most interesting man in the world…is that too much to ask?

How does your work influence your personal style?

My work is personal style so it’s important that I practise what I preach. For me there’s nothing better than wearing a suit. It’s the ultimate uniform for any man who wants to be taken seriously and feel sexy (assuming that it fits properly).
