Welcome the 2018 summer HOST and Off The Wall teams!

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

Each summer, Downtown Calgary empowers a group of students to become downtown ambassadors. Split into two groups, the four-person Hospitality, Outreach and Safety Team (HOST) will be seen roaming downtown and manning the kiosk on Stephen Avenue and 2nd St SW. The Off The Wall team, another group of four, travels around downtown and surrounding neighbourhoods removing graffiti. Read on to find out more about this year’s teams!

I enjoy being active and outside! I also LOVE patio season. My favourite downtown restaurant is Alforno, while Phil and Sebastian is the best place to grab coffee or tea. If you only have time to do one thing in Calgary, head over to Prince’s Island Park – my favourite place to be outside!

I’m interested in fashion as a hobby, and in my spare time I enjoy hiking, specifically in the Rockies. If I’m feeling hungry downtown, you can usually find me at Goro + Gun – one of the only ramen restaurants downtown!

I really enjoy spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends or playing sports. I love animals – especially cats and dogs. We’re lucky to have so many cool things to see downtown, like the Calgary Tower and Glenbow Museum, and stores like Simons.

This is my second year working on the HOST team – I love helping people and showing off the best parts of my city! Calgary’s downtown public art is a must-see, and if you’re hungry Local or National are the best places to be.

Off the Wall

I’m an outdoors type of person and I love hiking in the Rockies. Art is my other passion – downtown Calgary has some really cool architecture to check out, and a walk down to the west end of downtown takes you to my favourite restaurant, Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ.

One of my favourite things to do is explore outside, and if I’m patient, check out the sunset. OEB is the best breakfast place downtown, and any walk needs to go past Wonderland, the big head statue at The Bow – it’s so cool!

I love to paint, draw and swim. I’m an interior design student who loves animals and is a little kooky. Monogram is the best coffeeshop downtown, and Workshop Kitchen + Culture is an awesome restaurant to check out!

Currently, I’m enrolled in Law & Society at the University of Calgary. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing and golfing. If it’s sunny out, I’m either headed to the river or hanging out on the rooftop patio at National on 8th!
