Calgary is home to Canadian Blood Services’ largest donor clinic

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

Did you know over 80 diseases may be treated by a stem cell transplant? Giving blood means giving life. Next week you can be a part of the solution by heading down to Stephen Avenue for World Donor Day and booking an appointment with Canadian Blood Services.

Canadian Blood Services’ largest blood donor clinic has been open at Eau Claire market since July 2017. This state of the art 12,000 square foot collection site is where donors can donate whole blood, plasma, and platelets. The new modernized facility has 20 beds, and is an improved experience for donors to provide a more accessible location closer to the downtown core. Calgary is one of the highest performing locations across Canada where generous blood donors continue to help to ensure that Canadians have access to the lifesaving blood products they need, when they need them.

National Blood Donor Week runs June 11-17, 2018 and World Blood Donor Day is on Thursday, June 14. National Blood Donor Week is a great occasion for us to thank donors from across Canada who have, over 20 years, helped to make a difference to patients in need. Events are being held in communities across the country during National Blood Donor Week to thank blood donors and to remind eligible Canadians to help support patients by donating blood this summer. Canadian Blood Services will be on Stephen Ave on June 14th from 11am-2pm booking appointments to donate blood at their Eau Claire Market Clinic, as well as drawing for gift cards from Cookies by George!

You can help save a life during National Blood Donor Week by booking an appointment to give blood at 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283), downloading the GiveBlood app, or visiting blood.ca.
