What’s Up in YYC

by Downtown Calgary · 0 comments

This week: September 9 to 15

School’s been back for a week already, and the city is gearing up for a fantastic fall! Come down and enjoy all of the fun festivities happening in #DowntownYYC as we slowly transition through the seasons.

Go on a Ghost Tour of Downtown YYC: Discover the history of Downtown Calgary in the midst of the modern skyscrapers.  You’ll look at the city in a whole new light.

The Terry Fox Run Calgary: Starts and ends at Fort Calgary, with the route traveling west along the Bow River Walk Way.

Sing Along to The Music of Abba: Sweden’s most adored musical export and 400-million-record-selling phenomenon returns to the stage through the world’s leading ABBA tribute band, ARRIVAL from Sweden. Impeccably re-creating the original sound, look, and feel of one of the most influential pop bands of all time, ARRIVAL teams up with the CPO to deliver hits like Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Honey Honey, Fernando, SOS, The Winner Takes It All, Knowing Me Knowing You, Waterloo, and more.

Circle: The Travelling Food, Beer, & Music Carnival: The Carnival returns for the 6th anniversary and this year will be bigger than ever! This year Circle becomes a 2 day event! There will be two curated stages of music and dance from top local DJ’s, international touring acts and festival favourites presented by BassBus. And three bars by Village Brewery, with a site wide liquor license to keep everyone milling happily about our entire transformed festival grounds. And local food by YYCFoodTrucks, from BBQ to gelato to perogies – every palate and craving you may or may not have can be satisfied from noon to night, so don’t worry about packing a lunch. Don’t miss out on the Fast ‘n’ The Furriest Wiener Dog Race, circus performers, kids stage, Lego land and more!

Check out a Stephen Avenue Live Performance: Stop by and check out the amazing line up of Street Performers Monday – Friday between 11:00am – 5:00pm at 6 stages along Stephen Avenue.
