This week: November 18 to 24

Calling all sports fans (specifically football enthusiasts). It’s going to be a big week in Calgary and you can probably guess why. Calgary will be welcoming the Grey Cup to the city and we’re getting pretty excited about it. The CFL Grey Cup Arrival Parade will kick off the festivities in #DowntownCalgry and then you will be able to enjoy 30+ live performances along Stephen Avenue throughout the week, along with other scheduled activities and events. Enjoy making history in #YYC right in the heart of our city!

Grey Cup Arrival: CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie, along with The Lord Strathcona’s Horse Ceremonial Mounted Troop and CFL Alumni will officially deliver the Grey Cup to Calgary. A parade will start at 11:50 am on 3rd Avenue SW and travel along Stephen Avenue Walk, arriving at Olympic Plaza at noon. Commissioner Ambrosie, Mayor Nenshi and a few special guests will say a few words as we celebrate the arrival of the trophy for the 107th Grey Cup presented by Shaw.

2019 Grey Cup Festival: Olympic Plaza and Stephen Avenue Walk will come alive with lots of lights and pageantry. Enjoy a magical skating experience right in the heart of downtown Calgary. Glide along the skating surface with fellow fans then huddle up around the fire pits to warm up before continuing the festivities.

Game Time: As the city turns red for the football festivities, Stephen Avenue is coming alive with Music, Entertainment, Winter Patio’s, and wonderfully warm fire pits. When you need to come inside and warm up, and watch the game, you can choose from any of the amazing restaurants along the avenue. Live Music Entertainers from November 21-24th throughout the day, including special guest appearances with Ellen Doty “Next to the Fire” by The Galleria Trees. View the full schedule of events here!

GIRAF – Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival: An annual animation festival that runs each November at the Globe Cinema in Calgary, GIRAF celebrates the spirit of independent, underground, and experimental animation, showcasing Canadian animators and presenting diverse animations from around the globe.

From Timeless classics to cult favorites, exciting action, gut-busting comedy, and much more, they offer specialty cocktails, entertainment and games themed around the movie of the month.
