POCKET SQUARES: HARRY ROSEN x GARY TAXALLI

by Kait Kucy · 0 comments

The pocket square is back, folks. It is not white, crisply pressed or made of cotton. The new pocket square is colourful, silk and has a fun whimsical spin on it! This fall, Harry Rosen introduces a new collection of five special-edition pocket squares designed by the incredible Canadian artist Gary Taxali.

I am in love with these 100% silk pocket squares, created exclusively for Canada’s premiere menswear retailer, Harry Rosen (located in the CORE). Launching on Saturday, November 2, 2021 you can come and adorn your pockets with these clever squares for only $95.  I’m not alone in my love for the pocket square - there is a reason that Harry Rosen commissioned this project.

“We’re passionate about pocket squares,” says Larry Rosen, CEO, Harry Rosen Inc. “It’s important for men to inject some playful elements into their wardrobe, and these unique artist-designed accessories pack a lot of personality.”

And Gary Taxali was just the person to pack in that personality into a textile. An award-winning illustrator whose work has appeared in GQ, Esquire and Rolling Stone, Taxali was inspired by each Canadian city and the landmarks, personalities and talismans that make them so amazing. Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal are all included in the limited edition collection along with one Canada square as well.

“I was inspired by how diverse our Canadian cities are, and I tried to capture the different moods and stories of Canadian life in a playful way,” says artist Gary Taxali. Each piece of artwork is reproduced on high-quality Italian silk, with hand rolled and stitched edges creating a fluid canvas that Gary says “shows that fashion is art and art can be fashion.”

And there can’t be anything better than that, right? Now, go get your Calgary pocket square this weekend and wear it with pride!
