Food is Life

What’s not to love about food?

If the above statement expresses the way you feel about all things culinary, check out the Calgary Public Library’s latest informational series, Food Is Life. The free series is a veritable buffet of information for those who consider themselves true foodies or want to learn more about food, health, and nutrition.

This two-day series at the central library is like the best kind of loaded sandwich – stuffed with variety. The Calgary Horticultural Society is on hand to tell you how to start your own vegetable garden and practice sustainable gardening, and Sharon Gafka will share her inspiring story of dramatic weight loss. Other sessions are hosted by local personalities including authors Julie Van Rosendaal and Dee Hobsbawn-Smith, former Olympian Kelly Anne Erdman, and organizations including Alberta Health Services, Community Natural Foods, and others.

The 13, hour-long sessions all take place at the John Dutton Theatre and run all day Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. Visit the Calgary Public Library website to learn more about each session, or call 403-260-2620.
