Have a desire to eat local, but don’t have the time to stop at a farmer’s market on your way home from work?
Starting today, Thursday, June 24, the Downtown Green Market will be the solution to your dilemma. Located on Stephen Avenue Walk between Centre St and 1st St SE (outside the Telus Convention Centre) the Downtown Green Market will offer up local baking, produce, organic products and handmade goodies.
The market will up and running every Thursday from 10am-2pm, giving you plenty of opportunity to stop by and pick up ingredients for dinner on your way home – or even just grab a bite for lunch! On top of food vendors, there will be people selling clothing, jewellery, artwork and many other treasures.

The bread lady is awesome!
Love the idea but it would be better if it was open until 6pm. I’m not going to buy veggies for the weekend at lunch time on Thursday, but I would stop off after work.
Great idea! We would love to be able to do that, but unfortunately the vendors go to another market after ours and Stephen Avenue opens to traffic at 6pm and they have to be off before then.
A colleague and I went down over the noon hour today (July
and didn’t find any “local baking or produce” as the description says. Am I missing where the vendors are? I’ve gone in previous years and have bought bread and fresh veggies. Today we saw the commercial merchadise and eatery stalls, but nothing more. Pls help!
- Desperately seeking yummy food.
There is normally bread and fruit and veggies, but that morning there was the First Flip pancake breakfast on that block. The smaller vendors were still able to setup, but those two vendors need more time for setup and take down. However, all is not lost, because they’ll both be down next week.
Thanks for coming down and I hope to see you next week. In the meantime, for your yummy food fix, Bliss Bakery in Chinatown has delicious pies.
Thanks. I went today and there the vendors were! Came home with some tasty bread and raspberries.
