TD JAZZ WITH DAVID SANBORN
October 18, 2021

With six GRAMMY Awards, one Platinum and eight Gold albums, and a collection of original music over 24 albums, David Sanborn blends instrumental pop, R&B, and more and more traditional jazz. He released his first solo album Taking Off in 1975, but has been playing the saxophone since before he was in high school when he was inspired by the great Chicago blues artists near his hometown of St. Louis.

Sanborn has toured with Stevie Wonder and The Rolling Stones, collaborated with such artists as Paul Simon and James Taylor, and is also behind the unforgettable solo heard on David Bowie’s Young Americans. He was also the host of the Lorne Michaels produced television show, Night Music, from 1988 to 1990, which featured jazz legends like Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck and Billie Holiday.

Don’t miss the chance to see Sanborn live - an artist who pushes the limits and continues to make music that challenges the mind and goes Straight to The Heart.

With instruments serving as characters, and the entire story brilliantly narrated, this is a time-honoured children’s introduction to the Orchestra. The CPO delights in Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, described even by the composer as “such fun!”
