Live Poetry Reading - April 20, 2022

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Downtown Calgary and the CORE are hosting a Pop Up Poetry Reading in Devonian Gardens on Wednesday April 20.

The reading features performances by a collection of individuals including Calgary Past Poet Laureate Kris Demeanor, Kirk Miles from Calgary’s longest running spoken word series The Single Onion, Sheri-D Wilson from the Calgary Spoken Word Society and representatives from the Calgary Slam Team and some special guests.

Bring your lunch and enjoy listening to them perform in the gorgeous gardens.

Laser at the Palomino - April 23, 2022

Fans of Canadian indie-rock greats Broken Social Scene will want to hear Laser vocalist Lisa Lobsinger, who lent her vocals to the band’s 2010 Forgiveness Rock Record and frequently sang live parts originally done by Feist, Metric’s Emily Haines, and Stars’ Amy Millan. Now, in her own project with rhythm/production duo Paul Pfisterer (The Beauties) and Marty Kinack (Transistor Sound & Light Co), they’re sharing a synth-pop delight called “Leaving it Too Late.”

Opening acts include local artists Am Static and Jason Famous & Le Fame.

Re-engage Seminar - April 25, 2022

A local panel from corporate Calgary will share their personal perspectives and experiences of how they have transferred their skills within industry, sectors and their profession. Attendees will learn the process for career change, including a self-directed guide for job-seekers that outlines tools for an employment search action plan.

Featured Speakers: Richard Bucher, Senior Consultant, Right Managment and Bruce Randall, Founding Executive Director, Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC).
