5TH ANNUAL CUFF.DOCS - November 16-19, 2017

Welcome to the 5th annual CUFF.Docs, Calgary’s Documentary Film Festival!

For this year’s festival, CUFF has programmed a wide range of thought-provoking, artistic, impactful, diverse, non-fiction films, which have not yet had an opportunity to screen in Calgary. They have curated a selection which not only varies in subject, but style and genre within the art form. CUFF.Docs is the perfect place for anyone with the same intrigue and interest in factual content as we have. We’ll bring guests with the films, and plan for a unique CUFF-experience with the festival, and the films we present.

CUFF aims to promote art and encourage dialogue through the quality of the film. Films aren’t booked to make political statements or advocate for particular issues. Instead, the hope is to present a range of films that both confirm and challenge beliefs, promoting a sense of wonder and a healthy skepticism, and above all, that continue to advance the medium of documentary filmmaking.

The Calgary Underground Film Festival loves supporting independent film, and with a great team and passionate supporters, we elevate Calgary’s cultural landscape!

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Click here below for more information the feature schedule and where to get tickets.

NEXT STAGE: INTRINSIC - November 16-19, 2017

Quinn Kliewer and Kyra Newton are two professional dance artists based in Calgary, Alberta. The two have been collaborating for the past year and opening themselves up to new ways of crafting movement. Their work aligns with the principles of authentic movement and they are inspired by the endless possibilities within improvisational scores and meditative breath practices.

The work will produce a greater focus on the process and it values the intimacy of every moment invested. Intrinsic will be the dancers’ first experience integrating props into their work to create architecture in the space and exploring how external elements affect the body in motion. Consider the number of ways paper is prevalent in our lives. It can provide information, entertainment, wrap a gift, and become art in itself. The focus of the work will be on shape, size, texture and colour. Quinn and Kyra will use the knowledge they have gained to evoke curiosity, examine and interpret the essence of their movements in relationship to paper in its various forms.
