Lisa Lobsinger brings new group ‘Laser’ to Downtown Calgary

Locally, some may know Lisa Lobsinger as the singer of Reverie Sound Revue which got their start in Calgary. Some more may know Lobsinger as the touring vocalist with Broken Social Scene, or heard her vocals on tracks with Canadian MC Shad and Calgary’s own Smalltown DJs.

Now, Lisa Lobsinger brings her new group Laser to Downtown Calgary, playing The Palomino on April 23rd, 2016.

Layering the warm, inorganic sound of synthesizer with the organic sound of drums and guitar, Laser’s sound is lush and atmospheric, being equal parts disco and indie.

Hot off the heels of last year’s release of Laser’s debut album Night Driver, the band is sharing The Palomino stage with fellow electronic acts AM Static and Jason Famous & Le Fame.

This will be Lobsinger’s first time playing The Palomino but she says she is excited to make her debut,

“I was [at the Palomino] to watch [a bandmate] play with his other band… it’s a great venue which is why I’m super excited to play there.”

Although Lobsinger left Calgary after being asked to tour with Broken Social Scene in 2006, she still have fond memories of Calgary and it’s music scene, and she still has ties to Smalltown DJs lending her voice to their single See Thru and having them remix the Laser track ‘Disconnect’.

We’re excited to see (and hear) Lisa Lobsinger and Laser in Downtown Calgary alongside JUNO nominated local act AM Static and up-and-comer Jason Famous & Le Fame.
