LEST WE FORGET - LUNCHBOX THEATRE - Begins October 24th, 2016

Music and history come together to celebrate our National pride!

In November, Lunchbox Theatre continues their tradition of celebrating the efforts of our veterans and military personnel with a new creation entitled Lest We Forget. Using music and song to journey from WWI to the present day, this show examines the lives of soldiers, their families, and the way our lives are changed by war. Featuring original songs from a multitude of Canadian composers, Lest We Forget will be a musical ride through time that honours all that makes us proud to be Canadian.

Showtimes vary, see website for details.

Johannes Moser turns up the heat with his electric cello on Magnetar, alongside a program of popular works showcasing Mexico’s finest composers. Infused with spicy flavours, the evening’s irresistible rhythms create a festive mood with splashes of syncopated percussive flourishes including congos, bongos and tom-toms on the exhilarating La Noche de los Mayas.

Tickets and more information can be found on the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s website.

THE BLUES: MARTIN HARLEY - October 28th, 2016

Martin Harley is a blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter with a burgeoning global reputation. His current release Live at Southern Ground features bassist Daniel Kimbro who will be joining him on stage (Jerry Douglas, Larking Poe) and is already top ten in the Euro Americana charts.

Renowned for his prowess as a slide guitarist, Martin is almost unique in the UK in his playing lap slide. During year-round worldwide touring he’s absorbed a plethora of diverse influences, honing his craft into the classic songwriting style he possesses today.

Tickets can be purchased on the Arts Commons website.
