The air is turning crisp, leaves are falling, and snow has already made a couple of appearances. This means that Halloween is coming up quickly! This year, there are a lot of exciting Halloween events happening downtown, so for your convenience we have rounded up all of the events and complied them here.
Saturday, October 29th - Trick or Treat Bash at Bank and Baron - 125 8th Avenue SW
Join the Bank and Baron for their Halloween bash. The best dressed costume will win a pair of tickets to the Calgary Flames home game on November 10th. Voxbox DJ will be spinning all night!
Saturday, October 29th - The Unicorn Superpub Halloween - 223 8th Avenue SW
All three floors of The Unicorn will be featuring various drink specials, along with some live music and DJs! There will be prizes on all three floors for the best costume.
Saturday, October 29th - Ski Lodge Patio Party at National on 8th - 225 8th Avenue SW
The National is heating things up with their Halloween Ski Lodge Patio Party. Dust off the ol’ retro ski suit and get ready for the raddest patio party of the year! This is their last patio party of the season and their heaters will be working overtime! Stay warm with Parallel 49 products, shotskis and DJ Roofeo’s killer beats. There will be prizes for the raddest retro ski suit!
Saturday, October 29th - Thriller YYC Party & Fundraiser at Barcelona Tavern - 501 8th Avenue SW
Barcelona Tavern will be hosting a silent auction in support of the CC4MS. There will be some fabulous items up for grabs so come on down! Make sure to be there early, as there is no guaranteed entry after 11pm. You must be in a Halloween costume, and the best costumes will receive prizes! There will also be a live DJ on site. Saturday, October 29th - Mask Halloween Fete at Local 522 - 522 6th Avenue SW
This Halloween, get ready for CalgarySoca’s Annual Halloween fete. Masks, costumes, makeup all welcome as you get down to the best Soca music, plus get an early taste of what’s being released for Carnival 2017. Music by: Drew Atlas, DJ Majesti, & Sherman Hype.
Saturday, October 29th - Dash of Doom (Begins at Eau Claire Plaza) - 200 Barclay Parade
The Calgary Marathon Society invites you to be a part of Calgary’s only Halloween Night Race! This is a family-friendly AND pet-friendly event. Registration to this event gets you a t-shirt, finisher’s medal and bib with chip time. There will also be a festival area with fun Halloween games and a photo booth to get free pictures of you and your loved ones dressed up. There will be various categories for best costume. Saturday, October 29th - 4th Annual Terror Challenge Showcase at the Globe Cinema - 617 8th Avenue SW
Teams made up of local amateur and indie film makers are given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a horror film short. Teams are required to integrate three elements into their horror film. These elements can include anything from a specific prop, line of dialogue, film genre, or character type. The final films are brought together for the annual Terror Challenge Showcase and award ceremony. Prizes are awarded to First Place, Second Place, as well as the Audience Choice selection. Showcase is a 18+ event. ID may be requested at the door.
Saturday, October 29th - Halloween 3 (Vernest Scared Stupid) at Vern’s - 622 8th Avenue SW
Uncle Clints Funhouse Presents: Halloween 3 - Vernest Scared Stupid. It’s the third installment of the best punk rock Halloween party in Calgary! Celebrate with a costume party at Verns! This year features the best Uncle Clints Funhouse lineup yet, including Alberta punk legends, The Browns! $10 at the door.
Monday, October 31st - The Dadaist Halloween Party (Happenings 6) at Arts Commons - 205 8th Avenue SE
Join Arts Commons Presents for the Dadaist themed Halloween Party. Come dressed up in your wackiest Avant-Garde attire and show off your inventive side. Celebrate the presenting Alberta artists, enjoy NEW art activities, live performances, a cash bar, celebrate the dead in a Day of the Dead Altar, and much much more! This event is 18+.
