REMEMBRANCE DAY AT THE LEGION - November 11th, 2016

Legion members in Branches from coast to coast to coast are proud to organize Remembrance Day Ceremonies in over 1400 communities across Canada. Through their Branches, the Legion perpetuates the traditions of Remembrance and ensures Canada ‘never forgets’.

Come celebrate Remembrance Day at the Legion No. 1 (116 7th Ave SE). The traditional ceremony starts at 10:15am, followed by various activities afterwards.

MOZART REQUIEM - November 11th & 12th, 2016

Mozart’s emotionally dramatic Requiem remains one of his most powerful and riveting works. Feverishly written as the composer was on his deathbed, this enigmatic choral monument continues to fascinate audiences with the shadowy circumstances surrounding the work’s commission and completion. Beethoven’s introspective Fourth Piano Concerto balances the evening with gracious aplomb.

Both performances are at 8pm at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Tickets can be purchased on the Calgary Philharmonic’s website.

SIGHT NIGHT - November 12th, 2016

Participate in a charity run, but at nighttime for a bit of an extra challenge. The Sight Night run is on November 12 at 5:30 p.m. and it raises funds and awareness for the Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind, an organization that helps blind and visually impaired Albertans get involved in sport. It will be dark, but you’ll be with hundreds of other people. And you’ll all be wearing handlamps, so it won’t really be all that dark at all. This races sees visually impaired athletes run 3km, 5km or 8km alongside sighted runners.

This run starts at Eau Claire Market - Bow River Pathway. Registration can be completed online.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S THE HOLLOW - Begins November 12th, 2016

Presented by Vertigo Theatre. An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow, home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatell. Nearly all in attendance have a motive and most had the opportunity. It is up to Inspector Colquhoun and Sergeant Penny to solve the crime. Full of wit, humour and drama, THE HOLLOW is another glorious whodunit from the Queen of Crime.

Showtimes vary, see website for tickets and more information.
