What to Wear: Street Frostival

by Kait Kucy · 0 comments

Here in Downtown Calgary, we don’t shy away from enjoying the great outdoors in our wonderful metropolis during the winter months. Nope, we embrace everything about wintertime in the downtown core – ice skating at Olympic Plaza, hot chocolate runs with co-workers and now for the first time ever – a Street Frostival!

And what exactly is a Street Frostival? Everything you could ever wish for a pre-holiday celebration. There will be live music and DJs just about everywhere you look. Dancers, artists, live mural painting – pure proof of the extremely hardy stuff Calgary artists are made of.

The Downtown Calgary Association has partnered up with local favourites Market Collective and Light & Soul to put on this amazing afternoon of fun – just for you!

You are probably already wondering how you will keep warm during such festivities, and how do you retain your individual sense of style upon being bundled in your warmest winter gear.

We can all hope for a Chinook that day but in the meantime, take a look at these great essentials every guy and gal needs for the Frostival. Three things: hat, boots and gloves.

For the Guys!

This red plaid Sherpa Hunter Hat is the perfect conversation starter at a fun street party like this. Make like a lumberjack and meet new friends! These dark brown boots will keep your feet feeling comfortable and toasty along with a pair of cozy wool socks. Pull on these fine knit zip gloves while you sip your FREE David’s Tea!

For the Gals!

Inspired by the Market Collective, this mustard hat is the ultimate vintage yet not-vintage find! Keep your head warm while you peruse the fine wares of Calgary’s best. These black suede boots are a bit of a luxury purchase but they will be sure to last you season after season with their timeless style. The ultimate hot chocolate-cupping mittens – super cozy and woolen!
